Cristian Demuro
Age: 32
Background:
Demuro was Italy’s champion apprentice in 2009 and took the first of his senior titles in 2011 at age 19. He broke Umberto Rispoli’s record for most wins in an Italian season with 264 in 2012. One of France’s leading riders now, Demuro – like his brother Mirco – has enjoyed notable success in Japan, with four Group 1 wins there, namely the Oka Sho, Hopeful Stakes, Hanshin Juvenile Fillies and Queen Elizabeth II Cup. Demuro’s Group 1 wins in Europe include two victories in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with Sottsass in 2020 before partnering champion colt Ace Impact to success in 2023. He also rode both horses to win the Prix du Jockey Club, a race he has won three times overall atop Brametot (2017), Sottsass (2019) and Ace Impact (2023). He has also won the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches twice, Prix de Diane, Prix Ganay, Prix Jean Romanet and Grand Prix de Paris, while he partnered Shahryar to land the 2022 Dubai Sheema Classic. He recently won the Queen Elizabeth II Cup in Japan aboard Stunning Rose.
