2 J301  STUNNING PEACH  04/12/2024   239  STUNNING PEACH (J301) when questioned, rider stated that after being shifted in behind a runner, his mount reacted adversely and, in his opinion, attempted to jump a section on the track at the 1600M. He said as a result his mount lost ground when it became badly unbalanced. He added when placed under pressure in the Home Straight his mount became held up for clear running for some distance after the 300M and approaching the 150M was obliged to steady his mount when disappointed for clear running. He said as a result his mount lost momentum when it could not be tested for some distance thereafter. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings. Racing manners were considered unacceptable. The next day was reported to be lame in its right front leg. Has since performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial amongst other runners and passed an official vet exam. In addition, before the horse is permitted to race at Happy Valley again, it will also be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial at Happy Valley - Race 239.

10 H324  NOBLE PURSUIT  08/01/2025   336  NOBLE PURSUIT (H324) rider was interviewed relative to the tactics he adopted in the early stages where he shifted to a position one-off the rail near the 1500M to follow a runner. Rider stated that due to the pattern of racing during the meeting, he felt it was advantageous to endeavour to get his horse to the outside, particularly as his mount races best when in this position. He said for that reason he elected to shift out to follow that runner after the 1500M as he felt such manoeuvre would allow that runner to shift to the rail and provide his mount with a trailing position behind another runner. He said when the aforementioned runner remained racing one-off, the 5th placegetter was able to improve to that runner’s inside and as a result his mount settled further back in the field than what he had anticipated. He added along the Back Straight whilst the opportunity was available to shift in and follow the 5th placegetter, he elected to shift out to attempt to position his mount to the outside but was prevented from doing so when the eventual winner held its position to his outside. He said as a result near the 550M he was forced to go back to the inside to start a forward move and follow the 5th placegetter. Rider reinforced his views that his mount was disadvantaged by racing to the inside and also was not assisted by the track pattern on the night as it was forced to make a run on the inside - Race 336.
