1 2 COSMO NAVIGATOR (H156) Sent for sampling post-race.
2 1 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) Sent for sampling post-race.
3 14 BEAU GOSSE (G389) Jumped only fairly. Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind COSMO NAVIGATOR.
4 10 HO HO STAR (H291) After the 400 Metres was bumped by ACE TALENT which shifted to the inside of HAPPY HORSE. HO HO STAR then lay in for the remainder of the event, resulting in its rider Z Purton changing his whip through to his right hand after the 300 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.
5 6 ACE TALENT (H046) Bumped after the 400 Metres.
6 8 PLENTIFUL (G400) Jumped only fairly and then shortly after the start bumped with HO HO STAR which shifted in slightly. As a result, PLENTIFUL was then steadied when racing in restricted room between HO HO STAR and YOO YOO KNIGHT. From the 400 Metres until the 150 Metres was held up for clear running behind HO HO STAR. After the event, A Atzeni reported that when his mount was crowded at the start it settled further back than what had been intended.
7 7 GORGEOUS VITALITY (G051) No report.
8 4 SUPER ELITE (H247) Near the 170 Metres changed stride, shifted in slightly and was corrected by its rider. Assistant Trainer S T Lee, representing Mr D J Hall who was not present at today’s meeting, advised that from barrier 1 the instructions were to ride SUPER ELITE conservatively in the early stages with cover.
9 13 WIND SPEEDER (E281) Approaching the 100 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between COUNTRY DANCER and GORGEOUS VITALITY and as a result did not obtain clear running until after the 50 Metres.
10 9 YOO YOO KNIGHT (H053) No report.
11 12 HAPPY FEELING (H443) Slow to begin.
12 11 ALLOY KING (D287) No report.
13 5 GUSTY FIGHTER (J029) A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
14 3 HAPPY HORSE (H061) After the event, M Chadwick reported that his mount gave ground when under pressure in the Home Straight and the only explanation he could offer for the performance was that HAPPY HORSE would be better suited at the Happy Valley course travelling around a bend. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of HAPPY HORSE was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY HORSE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
