He said as he commenced to do so he dropped his left rein for a short distance before regaining it and being able to continue to ride his mount out fully to the finish of the event. Rider was advised that he should, wherever possible, ensure that he maintains proper control of his reins - Race 211.

Trainer confirmed the instructions issued - Race 211.
11 J470  PACKING TURBINE  03/11/2024   154  PACKING TURBINE (J470) when questioned, rider stated that on jumping his mount made contact with the left side of its barrier and as a consequence lost some ground. He said that resulted in his mount settling further back in the field than what had been intended. He added when placed under pressure in the Home Straight his mount responded satisfactorily to his riding, but, in his opinion, would be better suited by being stepped up in distance for its next race start. After the race was examined by the vet who said an endoscopic exam showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Has since passed an official vet exam - Race 154.

He said when caught wide in the early stages and unable to comply with those instructions, he allowed his mount to stride forward to avoid covering additional ground and as a result raced outside the lead in a more forward position - Race 220.
